About

Tim Murphy is a decorative painter who can provide a wide variety of  high quality painted finishes and murals on walls, ceilings, floors, moldings, and furniture. His approach on your project comes from ten years of experience and worldly studying of decorative painting, with instruction from some of the most talented masters of the craft. Tim can guide you in color consultation to make your project flow throughout your home.

Tim continuously increases his depth of knowledge, attending seminars and classes. He works closely with designers throughout the tri-state area of New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. He has completed commissions ranging from the renovation of Drumthwacket, the governor’s mansion of New Jersey, to a plantation house in Barbados. Several of his works have been featured in such publications as Design NJ and The Faux Finisher.

Tim’s work has been seen in magazines such as Design NJ several times. In the February/March 2009 edition, he was part of a feature story about the Twin Maples Show House in Summit, New Jersey. It showed photos of the trompe loeil moldings he painted on the walls of the third floor stairs and hall.

Tim was also part of the Stately Homes by the Sea Designer Show House in Rumson, New Jersey in 2009. His work could be seen in the foyer hallway.

Tim also did work in a home that was featured in the book “Picture Perfect” by Scott Sanders.

The Oct/Nov 2009 issue of NJ Savvy Living featured an article about ceilings. Photos of Tim’s ceiling murals were included in the article, as well as being interviewed about his methods of painting.

In 2012, Tim participated in an episode of “Hotel: Impossible”, a show on the Travel Channel that makes recommendations on how to improve a hotel’s business. In a bed and breakfast in Vermont, Tim was brought in to paint the walls, furniture, and fireplace mantel, among other things, turning a “tired” room into a beautiful bridal/honeymoon suite.
